Hi, I'm Coco - a big boy with an even bigger heart, just waiting for the right person to help me shine.

I'm a striking Akita with a proud presence and a clever mind - I notice everything, and I learn quickly, especially when treats are involved! I have a strong personality and know what I like and don't like, but with the right person who understands my breed (or similar ones), I promise I'll be a loyal and rewarding companion.

Life in the kennel can make me a bit overwhelmed sometimes - I can get overexcited and a little mouthy, but when I'm in a calm and controlled space, I settle beautifully. I'm not one to constantly seek affection, but I do enjoy pats and company on my terms. I'm an independent kind of guy, and I like to have my own space respected - especially when I'm feeling a bit overstimulated.

I need to be the only dog in the home. I've had some tough experiences with other dogs, and I feel safest when I don't have to share my space. I'd also do best in a quiet, adult-only home, with no young kids - somewhere I can feel calm and safe, and where my people understand the importance of structure, routine, and letting me come to them in my own time.

My perfect home will have secure, preferably solid fencing to help reduce outside stress, and an adopter who's confident, patient, and experienced. Someone who's ready to put in the time to keep my mind engaged, who's willing to train with positivity and patience, and who sees the potential I have inside me.

I know I'm not for everyone - but for the right person, I'll be so much more than a pet. I'll be a loyal, dignified, and deeply rewarding friend.
