Hi, I’m Elisaria
This sweet girl is Elisaria
Elisaria came in to the shelter with her family, she is now looking for her new home .
Diet and care : Guinea pigs are herbivores so they only eat plant material , they are essentially grazers and will eat all day . A selection of good quality hay, fresh fruit and vegetable's and good quality pellets should be available .Guinea pig teeth never stop growing so they need to chew to wear down their teeth.Guinea pigs require Vitamin c in their diet , so they require foods high in vitamin c or a daily supplement.Water bottles or bowls depending on the guinea pigs needs .
Housing : Guinea pigs are social animals , so you will need more than one , better to house the same sex together. The shelter should provide room for the guinea pigs to move around freely , with several places for them to hide . The floor should be a soft material that can be easily kept clean , no wire floors .Guinea pigs are quite susceptible to fluctuations in temperature , so protection should be given against sun , rain and wind.
Handling : Guinea pigs need to be handled with care and for short periods to alleviate stress .Guinea pigs are naturally wary with a strong flight response , so care should be taken to form a bond of trust with the guinea pig .
So if you have a guinea pig or 2 sized hole in your life , please come in and see us .
