Meet Anna, a sweet but fearful kitty looking for a patient and understanding forever home. She requires a behavior consult to help her adjust and thrive in a new environment.
To set Anna up for success, she must start in a small area where hard-to-reach spots are blocked off. It's important to allow her time to settle in before exploring larger spaces, as she can easily become overwhelmed.
Creating a comfortable environment is key! Providing scratch posts, cat trees, and cozy hides like cardboard boxes or cat igloos will give Anna plenty of safe spaces to choose from, both high and low.
We recommend Anna for a home with older children who can read basic cat body language and understand when to give her space. Having come from a hoarding situation with multiple other cats, she is likely to open up to feline friends with gradual and positive introductions.
Since Anna has never lived in a typical household setting, she missed some early guidance during her formative years. It's essential for her new owner to take things slowly and allow her to progress at her own pace.
Anna enjoys gentle attention and yummy wet food, which can help build trust. She may also do well in a home with a calm, social dog, as long as interactions are monitored.
