Tex needs a calm and nurturing household. Sudden movements or loud noises can startle him, so he would do best in a home without small children or a home that can offer a peaceful environment where he has the space to relax (think cozy crates or dog runs!).
Having spent most of his life living in a backyard, Tex is eager to explore and discover new things! This means that socialisation with sights, sounds, people, and places will be an exciting adventure for him-but it should be approached positively and gently to avoid overwhelming him.
As he transitions into his new home, it's essential to go at Tex's pace. He may need some time to adjust, and toilet training could take a little longer than usual. A routine filled with predictability, consistency, patience, and, of course, lots of love will be crucial in helping Tex settle in comfortably.
Tex might thrive with a companion dog by his side, as it can provide him with additional confidence. However, please be aware of his background in a large group-he may show signs of resource guarding. To ensure a harmonious environment, separate feeding areas are strongly advised.
