Hi, I’m Hattie
Meet the Lovely Hattie!
After a challenging start to her life, Hattie now finds herself safe and sound in our shelter, eagerly waiting to begin the next chapter.
Having endured the hardships of a backyard breeding operation, Hattie and her siblings faced cruelty, neglect, and abuse. Because of this difficult past, we have been working closely with her to help her trust and bond with humans. It was truly heartbreaking to witness how fearful she was in the beginning.
Initially a very nervous girl, we are now seeing Hattie blossom as she gains confidence and starts to come out of her shell. She's reached a point where we can gently fit her with a harness and take her for walks. The big, wide world is a new experience for her, filled with many "firsts." The key to socialising Hattie is to proceed slowly and ensure she has positive associations with all her new adventures.
Hattie has become a sweet, affectionate pup who seeks reassurance and safety from her favorite people. There's nothing she loves more than jumping in her paddling pool & immersing herself in the water!
Having lived with other dogs in a stressful environment, Hattie greatly enjoys the company of her brother and would thrive with a dog buddy in her life. Ideally, a sociable male would be a great match, but she's open to possibilities! A meet-and-greet with any potential canine companions prior to adoption would be essential.
As a part cattle dog, Hattie can sometimes be a little "nippy." This behavior arises from her breed, her youthful energy, and some lingering anxiety. With this in mind, we recommend that she goes to a home without small children, along with providing her adequate exercise and both mental and physical stimulation. Hattie is highly intelligent and will thrive with ongoing positive reinforcement training.
Having only experienced life outdoors, if you're kind enough to welcome Hattie into your home, please be aware that she will need time and patience for toilet training.
Hattie is looking for a patient, understanding, and compassionate home where she can adjust and settle at her own pace. It may take her some time to heal but this beautiful girl deserves a chance.
