We first met Kiba at the Wacol RSPCA in September 2016. She was one of the English Staffy x Kelpie pups ready to get into a car to go to The Big Adopt Out at RNA Showgrounds. Lucky for us, we made it just in time to request to meet and play with her. She was only 2.5 kgs back then and went by the name Peaches.
At only eight weeks old, Kiba started to learn all the basic commands and loved doing them in exchange for treats. We got her comfortable in front of the iPhone camera to take photos as
we wanted to take as many pictures and videos to document her life story on Instagram.

One of the main reasons we wanted to document her life on Instagram is to create an awareness for her bully breed and to encourage people out there to adopt instead of shop. Unfortunately, Staffordshire Bull Terrier seems to have this bad rep about them that they are “dangerous” dogs. After adopting Kiba, we found that that statement couldn’t be more wrong. Kiba is the most affectionate, loyal and wonderful dog we’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.A few months ago on Instagram, a dog walking company in Canada decided to use one of Kiba’s photos without permission in relation to dogs at dog parks. It showed a picture of Kiba playing with Chucho, an American Staffy x Bulldog at our local dog park. The caption promoted their dog walking business mentioning that they will not take their dogs to the dog park because they don’t know how other dogs are going to behave – which in our opinion is fair – however, using a picture of Kiba playing with another Staffy doesn’t match their caption and it unfairly creates this illusion that dogs like Kiba and Chucho are dangerous dogs at the dog parks.
After support from the Instagram Dog Community (Yes, it’s a thing!), we managed to ask the owner to kindly remove the photo for us. As this goes far beyond what we’re trying to create an awareness of her breed for.
Our lives has been forever changed for the better ever since Kiba came along. Every weekend, it’s always “What does Kiba want to do?” and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Kiba definitely has a better social life than us! She has been a very important family member and friend to us and we are so grateful for her every day. She brings so much joy and happiness to our life and to others on Instagram with her super smiley and beautiful nature.
So for those of you who are thinking of getting a furry family member, please consider adoption as your first option. There are so many of dogs that need to go into loving homes and we promise you, they will give you their whole heart and so much more. Remember... you can’t buy love, but you can rescue it.
