Foster Carers Needed Urgently!

Posted Jul 6, 2022
We need your urgent help – can you care for an animal in your home for a few weeks or months as a foster carer?

Right now we are desperately looking for more animal lovers that can open their home and hearts to an animal in need on a temporary basis as an RSPCA foster carer. Apply here.

Foster carers generously help RSPCA animals in a range of different ways:

  • Providing a home environment for animals that need time out from shelter life
  • Helping puppies and kittens waiting to get to a certain age/weight for desexing
  • Assisting animals recovering from surgery that need crate rest and light exercise
  • Caring for animals that may be part of Inspectorate cases, and more…

Your Foster Care Questions answered:

When COVID-19 first affected our shelter operations back in 2020, we had an overwhelming response with members of the public putting their hand up to become foster carers. Sadly, now as people return to the workplace we have less foster carers available to help animals.

We need foster parents to assist a range of animals from cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, farm animals, horses and more. Right now we urgently need help with:

  • Our medium to large sized dogs looking for foster carers with secure fences and no other pets in the household.
  • Our adult cats looking for foster homes too.
  • Our orthopaedic cats and dogs looking for foster carers that can provide some extra TLC at home so they can fully recover post-surgery.

If you can help, apply to become an RSPCA foster carer today.  You’ll be joining an incredible team of animal lovers in Queensland!
