This mum and bub duo came into our RSPCA Wildlife Hospital in Brisbane for treatment. It is a rare sight to see an echidna with a baby on board. Mum echidna had a wound on her left foot which our wildlife vets treated. Luckily she hadn’t sustained major injuries and both were able to be released back into the wild.
Did you know that baby bats are also known as ‘pups’ and carried under their mum’s wings? These broad nosed bats came into the RSPCA hospital after trees were felled in Hillcrest. They were looked after by a wildlife carer before being released in a nearby area to start a new life.
