Sadly, this means that large numbers of native animals and birds are hit by cars or find themselves victims of dog and cat attacks.
But all is not lost, you can help this Spring while we currently care for 52 koalas being treated and rehabilitated at the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital, Rehabilitation Centre and in care with specialised wildlife carers in Queensland.
Sign our pledge to save our koalas here.
The team at RSPCA Queensland are just as passionate as you are about saving our iconic wildlife.
"My passion for saving koalas is because I have two young kids and I want my children to see koalas in the wild in Queensland in ten years." Jaimee, RSPCA QLD Wildlife Operations Manager
Your pledge will help us raise awareness about how critical the next decade is for koalas in Queensland. And it’s not just koalas you can help when you support the RSPCA. To find out handy tips for living with wildlife, read more here.
Trauma season has kicked off early this year with warmer temperatures coming sooner than expected. In the last year over 26,000 native animals and birds have passed through our centres. Ten years ago, we were helping just over 8,000 wild animals. Our Wildlife Hospital operates 24/7 and on any day during trauma season our hard working teams can be helping over 100 animals, many of these orphans and baby birds!
Clyde the koala is one recent patient, a repeat visitor to our Wildlife Hospital. He was rescued in Upper Mount Gravatt, suspected to have been hit by a car. By supporting the RSPCA, you’re helping koalas like Clyde get the treatment they need to survive and return to the wild. We’re pleased to say Clyde has now made a full recovery and is back in his home among the gumtrees.
We want to hear how you pledge to help koalas like Clyde.
