BREAKING. Gold Coast City Council has decided to ban circuses with exotic animals from performing on council land!
RSPCA Queensland welcomes their decision as exotic animals in circuses spend their years performing tricks for human entertainment rather than being free to express their normal behaviours as they would in the wild.
“We do not in any way believe that the circus owners are intentionally cruel to their animals, in fact we believe that they genuinely love them. However we do believe that these exotic animals belong in an open plain zoo rather than spending their years on the road performing tricks. We hope this decision on the Gold Coast results in other councils following suit.” RSPCA Spokesperson Michael Beatty.
