RSPCA officers attended a property in The Panorama, Tallai on Thursday 13 February 2025 regarding a peacock that had been impaled with an arrow. Upon arrival, the peacock was located and transported for immediate veterinary treatment for its injuries.

RSPCA Inspectors are continuing their investigations into the matter and are calling for anyone with firsthand information to come forward. Please contact the RSPCA on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 624) or lodge a report on our website.

Sadly, the peacock was unable to be saved and was euthanised on humane grounds due to the severity of its injuries.

Under the Animal Care and Protection Act (2001), those found guilty of animal cruelty offences can face a maximum penalty of $322,600.00 or 3 years imprisonment, or a maximum penalty of 7 years imprisonment for severe animal cruelty under the Criminal Code Act 1899.
