RSPCA Qld is congratulating the Government for thinking about animal welfare after it announced that $1.5 million over two years would go towards upgrading the Townsville Animal Care Campus.
“We have been really struggling to cope in Townsville,” said RSPCA Qld Mark Townend. “We’ve had to transfer over 400 animals to other shelters this year because the facilities we have there were bursting at the seams. The money will go toward upgrading the veterinary surgery and rebuilding and replacing canine enclosures that are dilapidated.”
Mr Townend said the RSPCA was also committed to working closely with the Townsville City Council to resolve some land issues.
“When these issues are resolved it will make a significant difference to the lives of animals in the greater Townsville area.”
