As the mighty Queensland Maroons prepare to bury the New South Wales Blues in another State of Origin showdown, another interstate challenge of a dif-fur-ent kind kicks off.
The RSPCA’s annual State of Adoption is back with friendly banter between RSPCA Queensland and NSW going head to head to rehome more animals than previous years.
To celebrate the launch of the State of Origin series, all long-term RSPCA dogs and cats will be just $99 from 29 May – 4 June.
RSPCA Queensland spokesman Michael Beatty said behind the friendly rivalry was a serious message.
“Although it’s always nice to beat New South Wales on and off the field, the real prize is sending hundreds of animals to loving, forever homes,” Mr Beatty said.
RSPCA Queensland is vying to win State of Adoption for the ninth year in a row, effectively beating the Maroons’ historic eight-year winning streak.
