About the role
We’re looking for a passionate Assistant Animal Care Manager to build positive relationships within the Moreton Bay Regional Council area while supporting the Animal Care Manager at our busy Dakabin Campus. Collaborate with our animal care and customer service teams to ensure smooth daily operations and foster an inclusive, respectful work environment. Your focus on effective communication will help maintain the highest standards of animal care, cleanliness, and hygiene will be essential in upholding the RSPCA's Five Domains.
- Assist in managing shelter operations, staff, and volunteers by overseeing specific sections and ensuring compliance with RSPCA QLD policies.
- Lead the implementation of OH&S measures to minimise incidents and maintain accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with the Animal Care Manager and Dakabin team to keep procedures and training manuals up to date while supporting recruitment and onboarding for staff and volunteers.
- Monitor animal care and liaise with veterinary teams to ensure animal welfare, including conducting general husbandry and managing capacity.
- Provide excellent customer service to adopters and the community, enhancing their experience and promoting our mission.
- Engage in community outreach, fundraising events, and administrative tasks related to adoption paperwork.
- Provide leadership and support to the team, resolving day-to-day issues and maintaining accurate records in ShelterMate.

- Attention to detail with a strong focus on maintaining accurate records and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Understanding of animal welfare practices and experience in general husbandry.
- Problem-solving skills to address and resolve day-to-day operational issues efficiently.
- Experience working within a team and building positive relationships with colleagues and external partners.
- Microsoft proficiency, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and a commitment to implementing safety measures.
