Without his mum, and in need of urgent rearing, you can imagine the distress felt by young Wayne the calf.
Brought into RSPCA care, the newborn quickly had our vet team wrapped around his little hoof!
You can be by our side this September as we rescue and treat animals in need like Wayne. Register today to host your own RSPCA Cupcake Day fundraiser!
Wayne needed round-the-clock feeding and care.
With his mum sadly passing away, Wayne missed out on the vital colostrum young calves need as an immune booster. But thankfully, with access to some donated milk and colostrum at the RSPCA, Wayne grew stronger (and bigger!) every day in our care.
Wayne was soon known as a four-legged dynamo with a sassy attitude to boot! And everyone who met him, both the two-legged kind and farmyard pals, fell instantly in love.
It was truly joyous to watch Wayne grow stronger every day, hearing him mooing away, not to mention having a giggle at all his witty moo-ments and hilarious hoof-tapping dance moves in the paddock!
But what was even more unexpected? When Wayne met Matilda.
Matilda came into RSPCA care as a lost sheep and needed veterinary treatment for tick-paralysis. While she was on the mend, she met Wayne and formed an instant bond with him!
You’ll be pleased to know that the inseparable young duo now have a loving new home, together!
We can’t make these happy endings for animals possible without you.
Please jump on board this September and fundraise for RSPCA Cupcake Day to help transform the lives of animals in need!
