Running for the Dogs

Posted Apr 13, 2023
Some people know me as “that girl obsessed with dogs”. Recently I’ve also become focused on getting fit too. Taking part in City2South for Team RSPCA Qld allowed me to combine both of these passions, all while helping out those animals in need.

I didn’t set out thinking I would be able to raise just as much as I did. I signed up initially to show my suppawt and help keep me on track with my running goal. Knowing I was running for the shelter dogs helped make those early morning training sessions that little bit easier.

I was overwhelmed with the incredible support and donations that started coming in from friends, family and even my amazing Instagram community of followers. Almost as soon as I promoted my fundraising page, I had donations coming in. It was such a great feeling seeing that donation tally keep rising!

Setting out on the morning of City2South was pretty nerve-wracking… I had never competed in a run event that long before, but seeing all those other Team RSPCA runners out on the track definitely helped boost my energy and kept me focused on my goal.

I’m not going to lie, that course was not easy (so many hills) and running 14km straight is not something that comes easily to me, but crossing that finish line felt amazing!

The finishers’ medal and RSPCA pooch cuddles at the end helped top off the pawsitive post-run vibes! I’m so glad I took part in City2South for Team RSPCA. I hit a new fitness goal, raised some much needed funds for animals in need and got to hug dogs at the end of it all!

Can’t wait to hit the pavement and start training for the next event… Bridge to Brisbane! Hopefully will see some of you out on the run track (I’ll be the one near the dogs).
